Add text labels to imported shapefile using attribute data

Hello,

I'm in the process of developing an property ownership map in C3D '19.  Using MapImport, I imported property line shapefiles in my C3D dwg and the Owner names display correctly in the OD field under the Properties box (see attachment).  I need input as to how to get the Owner names to show as text labels on each of the properties.  I'm relatively new at transferring ArcMap info into C3D, so be specific please.  Many thanks in advance.

Why did you mapimport?  Do you need the data in cad format?

The .shp file will work directly in MAP3D added either through the DATA CONNECT window available with the MAPCONNECT command

or drag the .shp from windows explorer into the map  and label with styles

This video shows labeling dwg objects with OD.  https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad-map-3d/learn-explore/caas/screencast/Main/Details/1ff...

Shannon,

Dave P's way is easiest. >>>Here<<< is how using MAPIMPORT. And >>>Here<<< is best of both worlds.

I was able to add the labels both ways.  Very helpful.  Thank you.

You have have used MAPIMPORT to bring in your shapefile and have retained the shapefile's attribute data as shown at bottom of your properties palette in your attachmant . To leverage the Object Data, in your case OWNERNAME, and use it as a parcel label, you can add your parcel layer onto the Map Task Pane. Once added to the task pane, you can apply a Text Style (don't be confused by M3D's nomenclature, a text style on the task pane is merely a text entity, not a text format). Although this video uses a USGS 7.5 minute quadrangle grid and quad names instead of parcel polygons and owner names, the concept is still the same: acquire the OD and use it as a descriptive label. And since the labels are text entities, they can be easily modified using the properties palette.
