I know this thread is ancient, but for the sake of anyone finding it:
The method outlined by *hagar is not correct, and does not work, at least for versions of AutoCAD Map 2016 and on.
Even if acadmap.ini is stored in the first folder listed in your Options/Support Folders Map will ignore it. It will ONLY read the acadmap.ini that is stored in C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Autodesk AutoCAD Map 3D 2016\R20.1.
If you delete or rename the acadmap.ini from C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Autodesk AutoCAD Map 3D 2016\R20.1, Map will create a brand new acadmap.ini on restart, putting it in the ProgramData directory, which, again, is NOT editable for standard Windows users.
This is all very frustrating.
Autodesk, can a dev please explain why a user CONFIGURABLE file such as acadmap.ini is being stored in ProgramData?
It is very well known that Windows restricts Users from editing any files in ProgramData. Why would a file that is DESIGNED to hold user's configuration being stored here?
It isn't an issue with users who are Admins on their systems, but for security conscious companies who don't make all users Admins, this folder is protected by the operating system.
Please make it easy to change the location of these user configurable files (such as the way that all other AutoCAD support files work) or, by default, save any file that is designed to hold configuration to a place where standard users have WRITE access.
