Why is the lower half of my Autocad LT 2022 screen dark?

I searched for Q&A on this topic but could not find anything that resembled my issue. Refer attached screen image of what is happening. The lower half of my screen is greyed out (a very dark grey but still slightly opaque). I'm using the latest version of Autocad LT 2022, and my laptop is a well-dimensioned Dell XPS 15 with an external 4K Samsung monitor running off a DisplayPort connection from a docking station. Don't know if that makes a difference. I note I am using the 30-day free evaluation version of the app. The dark screen issue is inconsistently transient - if I zoom out, then switch between MODEL and PAPER, the shading goes away, but returns with other actions when I start using the app.
Thanks for any diagnosis anyone may offer.

Your video card is choking. Win11 is not fully updated before you ran AutoCAD on it may be the issue.

Have you installed the 2022.1.2 Update yet? If you are not on subscription you may not have access to it. But if you are... ABOUT command will confirm what you have installed. If not, get it from your Autodesk Account Page here https://manage.autodesk.com/cep/#products-services/updates
Restart your PC afterwards.

If that did not help... Set GFXDX12 variable to 0 (that's a zero) then restart AutoCAD/LT2022: reverting to DirectX11 fixes similar problems for most users.

Also consider turning off LINESMOOTHING and LINEFADING variables: if still no relief then start GRAPHICSCONFIG command and change the 2D Display Settings pulldown from "advanced mode" to one of the other choices.

If all else fails, then turn off Hardware Acceleration as a last resort, then reach out to Dell for updated (or older) video card drivers to test an retest.

It worked for me too.

You forgot to give  "pendean" a "like" so I gave it to each of you.
