How come I cannot access the classic properties dialoque box from the side menu? Why is quick properties so incomplete? Why cant you type the letter of the property type on the command line..I have never had to use a frign mouse on the command line. an answer to the first will be fine.

Hi,

Properties Dialog/Palette is standard for decades, CTRL+1

What version you are refering to?

Do you know - You can set up quick properties for your needs

What do you mean with

"Why cant you type the letter of the property type on the command line.."

Which situation?

"I have never had to use a frign mouse on the command line."

Since today. Tell more about this situation.

Old Dialog box looked like what to you please? Looks like you are confusing QPM with PROPERTIES command, two separate tools and abilities. Plus in QPM, you can turn on more options for each object type in CUI command.

If I may ask @jaxdesignservice what year version was the last time you touched any version of AutoCAD/LT? The above have been around for decades now.

Or are you on a MAC by chance? Are you using LT for MAC? ABOUT command inside your program will confirm.

And what is your OS?

Thanks for your reply!..I started with release 8, and have been using 2004
since it came out and am still using it.right now at my day job.

I had a brief stint with 2009 light and
had 2013 full building design suite but it got fried by my former tech
people!
Yes, it has been a little shocking, and
I still think windows XP was as good as it can be, and I want those kids to
get off my lawn!..lol
I will present a better reply outlining
my questions as soon as i can get to my machine that has 2025LT
Thanks again!

Thanks all!..To answer a common question; yes I am a dinosaur. I started with release eight. Before the mouse was invented. I have been using 2004 since it came out and I'm using it today at my job. Because of this ancient beginning I still tend to use hot keys for commands and have found out how to set them in the cui. I've also found that many of the system variables are all the same and can get a lot of stuff that way. I've been tempted to migrate the settings from 2004 at work but that is land desktop. I'm sure that would wipe out all my customization progress..So I went home at lunch and all is well in whovelle

Thanks

Friend, we are all dinosaurs around here, welcome. I started with V9 on DOS3.3 here on a 286 with a math-coprocessor 🙂

There is no automated method to migrate settings from AutoCAD2004 to LT2025, sorry.

QUICKPROPERTIES can be customized to show more if you want to commit to that. CUI command can get you started.

PROPERTIES (and LAYER) palettes can remain up and on 100% of the time: if you have a second monitor (how most of us do it today), you can park them there to use.

Let us know what else you'd like to explore: I recommend you start with online how-tos and tutorials, I like the videos posted on YouTube but there is plenty of written-word-with-pictures content there too.

When I first played with AutoCAD it was version 2.6 with the multiple 5 1/2 floppy disks installations on my then trustworthy XT computer running Dos 3.1.

But since 2004 the Properties window which behaves like a palette has not really changed that much unless you're referring to when you used the 2002 version:
