We use both here. If you clients are using LDT or Civil 3D, you won't be
able to edit their points, surfaces, alignments, profiles, contours, etc.
LT does lines arcs, etc., but can't manipulate the LDT or C3D items. You
can lose some intelligence if you try to edit LDT items.
For general civil work, I don't see much advantage of full AutoCAD over LT,
but LDT is much better than both. Beyond this, LDT is being replaced slowly
by Civil 3D. In two to three years I expect most of the LDT users to switch
to C3D because it is so much faster overall and general editing of civil
work is done by the computer, not the drafter. I would be very careful that
you don't set out to do things just to find that your job is replaced by a
computer fairly soon.

I want to start working from home, but not so sure I need all the fancy
programs.
I usually do CAd for civil engineering firms, rarely Land Desktop stuff so I
am looking for something less expensive.
Can I do general revision work with just AutoCad LT?
What exactly does it allow me to do?
