View 2 layouts at one screen

Hi,

Is there a way to view 2 layouts at the same time while working on the other ?

I can open a separate instance of the drawing but the chages are not updating.

Thanks

No you cannot. But what changes are you making in one layout that would impact the other layout?

I am doing the electrical design for building and I have multiple services in the same area light fittings, security sensors, ventilation ducts, a/c units, cable trays etc. which are on different layouts.

The layouts are refering to the same area with diferent layers disabled on each layout.

And?

Work in MODEL, that's the place to work on your model and you will see all the content side by side

or create a tempory viewport

or turn vp layer temporary on

Thank you for your response.

That’s how I currently work, but I wanted to check if there might be a more convenient way.

Like cadffm said, it's best to do all your work in modelspace and only when everything is done you make your paperspace layouts.
You can split your screen in modelspace with 'Viewport Configuration' if you feel like that's easier (personally I don't use it)

@eefthim Another workflow to consider: XREF your base drawing into 2 separate DWG files, in one you do the tasks of the first current layout, in the other you do the tasks in the second current layout. Then you can stare/edit/modify both side by side all day long without ever touching the base except when you need to do "sharable" edits.

XREF: the ignored step-child :slightly_smiling_face:
