upload PDF and measure

I need to upload architectural plans and take measurements once I calculate the measurements. I'm only using this for measuring school gymnasiums. Not not very complex other than a large rectangle. Can I upload PDF and recalculate the measurements based on 1/8th1', or 1/4=1', etc.? I'm not familiar with AutoCad LT, but hoping I can figure this out rather quickly for these simple commands.

May I ask then, why are you considering this software to use to just measure PDF files, when there are dozens of low cost PDF editors that are better suited to measure areas and do take-offs from PDF files?
