Text keeps auto rotating

I'm very new to Autocad so perhaps i'm just missing something here but whenever I insert text it comes out normal but when I press escape to leave text insert it rotates the next 90 degrees so it's facing downward.

Can someone please help me with this?

Thanks

Dan

Insert text means what to the rest of us? Please explain.
Does this happen in ALL files, or just this one file? Find out.

So I'm going annotate> single line, then typing my annotation but when I try and leave the single line type it turns the text 90 degrees. Seems to be happening by default.

It's probably set to always come in at that angle in the text style. Check the text style you are using and see what the angle is set too. It's straight at first so it's easier to type and read, but if an angle is set it will go to that after you finish the text entry. Also if you watch the command line when you are putting in single line text it asks you on I think the second question to set an angle. Default is zero degrees but if you change it then it stays changed until you change it back to zero.

Just checked and mine looks the same as your photo so I haven't got it set to anything different.

So this happens in ALL files, even if you start a blank new file? Or are you only testing in the one file?

Is your UCS rotated?

It sounds like you are skipping the "specify angle" portion of the command dialog.  Single line text has multiple prompts that you can just "click" through on you screen.

Command: _text

Current text style: "Standard" Text height: 0.2000 Annotative: No Justify: Left
Specify start point of text or [Justify/Style]:
Specify height <0.2000>:

Specify rotation angle of text <0>:

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you're posting for the first time. Welcome to the Autodesk Community, and thank you for posting your question here in the AutoCAD LT forum.

I'm just checking in to see if you need more help with this. Did the follow-up suggestions made by @pendean and @Anonymous help you out at all?

This sounds like something that a reset to defaults might help with as well.
