Start a line offset from an intersection. and pop up box is missing

Something has changed in my setting, I assume.

I want to start a line 4’ from the endpoint of an existing line. I put the cursor over the endpoint. (autocad-1)
I move the cursor a little to the left (autocad-2)  and enter 4’. normally the line can start on the line 4’ to the left.
I do that and the blue line jumps way over to the left at an angle not close to the 4' away from the intersection (autocad-3)

also,
when I use measure distance, enter, usually a box pops up with the dimension in it is missing.
The same when I draw a line, stop the cursor,  the box with the dimension is also gone.

Thanks
Any ideas are appreciateautocad-1.jpgautocad-2.jpgautocad-3.jpg

Is the blue line a LINE object?
Are you currently drawing 'blue' lines, assuming it all worked?
What happens if you toggle off the running osnaps (F3) after you start (screen1) but before you do everything else starting in screen2 and screen3?

What is DYNMODE set to for your Q2?

the blue line is what I am drawing. Instead of starting at 4' along the line, it jumps across the drawing, sometime not as far, never along the line.
I tried f3, no change. I dont know what q2 is..
This all started today.

dynmode setting is -3

-3 means it's off: 3 is on, change it if you want DYNMODE to display.

I cannot repeat the error here in my own drawings, is your problem limited to that drawing? or limited to that one spot in that one drawing?

Did you toggle off running osnaps as I suggested?

Hi @ cdbobo17,

Sorry to hear that you are having an issue like this. I also tried running the same workflow in AutoCAD LT 2016,2017 and I wasn't able to recreate the issue.

Is this happening with all files or only a specific few?

Can you post a drawing file in the thread?

Excuse me, you replied "I figured it out." but you didn't give us the answer.  I'm using AutoCAD LT 2019 and I can't figure out where the offset starting point has gone.
Example:  I draw a horizontal line 4' long.  Then I hover over the endpoint and want to draw a vertical line 1' from the end.  I used to be able to move to the right just a little and put in 1' or whatever the measurement is and the vertical line would start at that point.

How do you do this in AutoCAD LT 2019?
Thanks for your help.
