Rotated text tag in block not visible in viewport

I have a user-defined annotatifve block which is a rectangle with a text object (tag) inside of it. I initially did this with a custom leaderless multileader using the ACAD supplied slot block. After several hours now of fiddling about trying to make it work, I've gone so far as to reset ACAD to default settings because I didn't like using the ribbon before but could not find some of the block commands any other way. It's a very long story and I'm very frustrated. I apologize in advance.

Anyway, originally, when I was using my multileader-less tag to number rooms in model space I knew to set the anno scale to 3/32" which is what one of the two viewports will need to be scaled too. I also knew to add 1/4" scale to the tag becauwse I am going to need to scale another viewport to 1/4" In modelspace I inserted my tag, was prompted to input my tag number and then I hit OK and voila there it is on the page.

When I view the layout in paper space at 3/32" it looks exactly as it should. When I open a new viewport and scale it to 1/4" all is still well.

However, I need to rotate the 1/4" scale viewport 90 degrees at which point the slot frame remains and the text disappears.

PLEASE save me from more tutorials going no where!

🙂

Thanks a bunch in advance!

Hi Dean -

Well, I figured out my problem. I was trying to use a multileader (sans leader) as a tag that would be rotated....and then I found out that multileaders don't rotate - at least not via "match text orientation."

I created user blocks and they work fine - - however - - I now have a new challenge with those same blocks.

I have two viewports both set to 1/4" scale in which the same tag/blocks are utilized. One of the viewports is rotated 90 degrees to the other one. I did this by selecting the viewport in paperspace and using the rotate tool.

I should add that these two viewports are on different layout pages. And to further complicate matters, each of these 1/4" viewports is a detail of a 3/32" scale layout found in yet another viewport.

When I am in paperspace and position the tag/blocks in one 1/4" viewport, it moves all of the tag/blocks in the other 1/4" scale viewport on a different layout page in ways that are unaccetptable - -basically random.

I've attached the dwg. I've clouded the trouble area in Model Space. The 3/32" page is A3.1 (it does not appear to be giving me any issues). The 1/4" scale layouts are A3.3 and A3.4.

Thank you so much for your assitance!

"position" the tags? is that actually using MOVE command, or grip move?

One tag moving is just that, one tag moved: viewports look at the same modelspace, you move it in one it moves in all the others. Now, if you GRIP move inside one viewport at one scale, the other viewports set at other scales should not move.

You can also grip move in modelspace: set the scale to 3/32 and grip move, then set scale to 1/8 and grip move. See your CAD file, reposted. In Modelspace watch the room numbers locations in three rooms move in opposite directions as you change scale between 1/8 and 3/32.
