Quick Select error "xxx object(s) not selected"

Sorry if this has been covered somewhere before.

I have AutoCAD lt 2007 and has been working fine for 6 months, but just today it started showing the above error in every drawing that I am opening when I tried to use the quick select command.

Nothing has been selected prior to using the command. No hidden layers, xrefs, or blocks. And to save some typing by others, there is no Profiles in AutoCAD LT 2007. (I know that 2008 has this now but its not an option of getting the upgrade as the company owns this version, and is unwilling to update at the moment).

Just recently, I have upgraded my IE browser from 6.x to 7.x from microsoft and added a rootkit scanner from AVG. I have turned AVG off to see if this was the cause, but doesn't seem to correct the problem.

Other than doing a reinstall, what solutions are there for this problem?

Is "Exclude from new selection set" selected instead of include?

FYI: The Profiles tab on Big AutoCAD OPTIONS' dialog isn't in LT.

no the exclude from new selection set isn't selected. Also, this message appears before the quick select dialog comes up. sometimes after clicking the "OK" button, the dialog will not appear at all.

Some users have found that unloading IE7 and going back to IE6 solved
similar problems.

Yes I see this is what initially caused the problem, but I cant migrate back to it, so the only solution I have found at present was to reinstall AutoCAD lt. When I did this, it screwed up my Autodesk design Review settings since it reinstalled the old dwf viewer 6.x from the CD. I had to remove it, then reinstall design review.

BTW Dean, a link on your hyperlinked pages in your signature is broken the product download page there is a link for the LTExpress:
