Problem with "Fit To Paper" plot option

What I'm trying to do is have my layout fit the paper size I have selected for plotting. Problem is, the "Fit To Paper" option box is grayed out. Also grayed out is the option for centering the drawing on the paper. I have tried all the usual things to fix this, including (surprise) reading the user's guide instructions, which are copied below:

"1.  Click Output tab > Plot panel > Plot.

2.  In the Plot dialog box, under Plot Scale, select the Fit to Paper option.

The resulting scale is automatically calculated. The ratio of plotted units to drawing units in the custom scale boxes is displayed.

 3.  Click OK to plot the drawing."

What am I doing wrong? Appreciate your help.

Review your setting of what to plot.  eg: Extents, Display, Window ...  etc

There's a roll down for that in the plot panel.

Thanks DJ.

Yes, the "Fit to Paper" box became available when I set the plot option to "Extents". However, from what I have read, the "Fit to Paper " option should also be available with the plot option set to "Layout".

But at least now I can get the job plotted.

Grateful.

Bill

Fit to paper and Layout cancel each other out: where did you read this choice?

Dean, not sure what you meant about "Fit to paper and Layout cancel each other out".  I did not read that. However, I now realize that you con't both set a scale option and have the "Fit to paper " option.

Thanks.

Bill
