Ok so I created a sheet set using Drawing X. I've now renamed Drawing X to Drawing Y.
How do I tell the sheet set that it should now look in Drawing Y without having to create a new sheet set?

Thank you for posting your question. When a drawing is contained in a Sheet Set and you rename it outside the set (in Windows Explorer for example, instead of through Sheet Set Manager), the drawing will dissociate from the project.
To avoid this problem, rename your drawing using the Rename and Renumber feature within Sheet Set Manager to rename the drawing file. Once the drawing is renamed outside of Sheet Set Manager, the drawing name will be greyed out and uneditable in the Rename and Renumber dialog box, but if you rename it in Windows Explorer to its original name, you'll be able to modify it through Rename and Renumber.

I'm not trying to import layouts.
What I'm doing is giving my drawing one name. eg jobno.sketches.dwg and when the drawing has been finalised I rename it to jobno.dwg.
However if I've created a sheetset for jobno.sketches.dwg it will not work for jobno.dwg and I have to recreate the sheet set

The way you are suggesting will take just as long as recreating, since I'd have to delete the old layout and then import from my renamed drawing.

No it's not letting me change the drawing name in the sheet set manager it's greyed out.

There is no way to do that in LT2012. I've tried

This is the drawing I was talking about. Originally it had .sketches on the end and then I took .sketches off. There a 36 separate tabs in that drawing and as you can see recreating the sheet set to look like it does now was a pain in the butt. The white space in the folder path was put there by me just now, as the work was identifible by it.

Yeah bit "This sheet already belongs to another sheet set"
All I want to do is say "The drawing you are now supposed to be looking in is called this"

When the drawing has been renamed in Windows Explorer, outside the sheet set, it will appear "greyed out" in the Rename and Renumber dialog box, and you cannot edit it.
To fix this:
No it's still greyed out.
As an experiment to see if that worked. I deleted the DST file. Opened up the drawing and got the error message about a missing DST file, deassociated the drawing, saved it and closed Autocad.
I then started Autocad and recreated the DST file from scratch. And I still see the same as in the picture I posted. File Name and Folder path are greyed out and uneditable.

I'm sorry to hear that, @h_s_walker.
I don't have 2012 installed to test in that version, but I did verify the workflow works in 2016 (as in the Screencast).
At this point, you may need to delete the sheets and add them again, since they appear to be stuck. In future projects, be sure to rename files that are associated with a sheet set from within Sheet Set Manager to prevent this from happening.
