Objects appear faded when transparency is 0

Hey all, so a colleague of mine is having this issue with one specific drawing and I can't figure out why and give him an answer!

In the attached drawing (named Transparency) you can see everything appears very faded, as if there is transparency on. However, all objects are set to ByLayer, and all layers have transparency set to 0.

If you change it from ByLayer to a value of 0 it still appears the same and if you go into layer manager and change the transparency to 50 or 80 or something you can see it having an effect so it is using the layer properties, it's just the 'starting' transparency, for want of a better term, is very low.

TRANSPARENCYDISPLAY has no effect whether it's set to 0 or 1.

Stranger still, is that when you copy and paste all of it into a new drawing it is fine, as shown in the second drawing (Transparency 2)

For now we have just copy/pasted and overwritten the file, superseding the old faded one, but I would still like to get to the bottom of why it was happening in the first place.

Any ideas much appreciated!

Ah yes, that's done it! Thanks very much.

Never heard of that command before, it seems no matter how long you use AutoCAD, you learn something new every day 😄
