I just updated to 2024, but had this exact same issue with 2023 when I installed that version.  HIGHLIGHT is set to 1, all visual effect settings are correct.  Last time I ended up talking w someone at tech support, which I have scheduled for tomorrow but I recall the fix was really simple, just not obvious.  Does anyone know what the fix is?

I will post here once it gets solved, so I can find it in 2025......

Have you installed the 2024.0.1 Update yet? ABOUT command will confirm what you have installed. If not, get it from your Autodesk Account Page here https://manage.autodesk.com/cep/#products-services/updates
Restart your PC afterwards.

If that did not help... Set GFXDX12 variable to 0 (that's a zero) then restart AutoCAD/LT.

Also consider turning off LINESMOOTHING and LINEFADING variables.

If still no relief then start GRAPHICSCONFIG command and change the 2D Display Settings pulldown from "advanced mode" to one of the other choices.

If all else fails, then turn off Hardware Acceleration as a last resort, then chat with Support when they call you back.

yup. The update was installed.  I had this exact same issue with the 2023 version and it had something to do with graphics settings.  Now I wish I had written it down

Once the issue was solved I did not have to operate in limp mode turning off graphics accelerator or advance mode, which sucks when I know the computer is capable of running in advance mode

Solution:

change graphics settings in Windows for this program to be high performance graphics instead of default.

System/Display/Graphics/Custom options for Apps/Autocad2024/Options/High Performance (instead of let Windows decide)

Selectioneffects set to 1

I had the same issue in Autocad LT 2024.  I was able to correct the problem in two steps.

1.  Made sure HIGHLIGHT command was set to 1.

2  Changed the GFXDX12 variable command to 0 (that's a zero).

I closed and reopened the command and now it works.
