object in layout space but not in model space

I have never had this issue before, I have a drawing that someone clearly made in layout space and I'm trying to copy it to model space so I can manipulate it and use it for other prints but can get it to show up. I have tried CHspace and a few other things but still cant get the image to appear in model space. does anyone know how to make this happen? im using AutoCAD LT 17 if that makes a difference in anyway

Hi,

>> I have tried CHspace and a few other things

...which "other things" have you tried and how did AutoCAD respond in the command-line?

_CHSPACE can only transfer objects to modelspace when the paperspace-objects can be clearly identified with a viewport.

If _CHSPACE does not work and you do have a viewport (only one) behind the paperspace objects then please upload the drawing.

unfortunately I cannot load the print because it is confidential but have tried zoom extents and annoall, copy and paste, checked layers making sure they are all on and a few others I cant remember right now. when doing the Chspace command it says the object is sent to model space and rescaled but then when clicking on model space and zooming out there is nothing there.

Have you tried making the geometry a block and then inserting it into model space?

Hi,

Create an object in paperspace that is unique to your drawing, e.g. a circle on layer "JUSTNOW", then run command _CHSPACE and select your other objects as well as this circle.

Now change to modelspace, use command _QSELECT to select that circle on this layer, next run command _ZOOM _OBJECT _P

==> do you see the circle?

If not please press <F2> to get a larger version of your command-line, scroll upwards until you see the CHSPACE command call .. create a screenshot and attach this screenshot with your answer.

Open Layout, run the command "_exportlayout"

Is this by chance a block that has a annotative scale applied to it. In model space, change ANNOALLVISIBLE to 1 and see if it appears.

Hi,

>> original object still does not appear

Which type of objects are the other 11 selected entities? (annotative block could be a good reason to not show up as @sthompson1021 mentioned)

When you run the chspace command do the objects actually vanish from paperspace, and are they still visible through the paperspace viewport, that would at least tell us that the command itself is working, if it is then there are a number of options as to why it doesn't show up in modelspace for which I can think of 4 options something to do with Layers, Annotation, Color or Scale/Location

All elements are in Layouts.
No objects Model.
No viewport.

Someone was joking about the drawing.

So... move (or copy) it to anywhere you want like in modelspace: either COPY/PASTE or create a scaled viewport then use CHSPACE command.

Remember to scale it afterwards, assuming you know an actual dimension of an object.

You and the file sender need to talk: its between you two what is wrong with this file.
