object disappears after alignment

Hi there, I need to align a drawing to specific basepoints, for it to be georeferenced when it is pulled into ArcMap. When I try to align my drawing to base points with specific coordinates by typing in the coordinates and then clicking Y to scale, the entire drawing disappears. Is there a way to fix this? Or would there be another way to match points in a drawing to multiple points with specific coordinates?

Thank you!

Hi,

So what I did was I opened a new AutoCAD document and drew two circles. I then entered specific coordinates for the center of those circles (right-click - properties - enter coordinate for center x and y).

Next, I copied and pasted a drawing from another file into my current one and when asked to specify an insertion/ base point, I snapped the corner of the drawing to the center of one of the circles (note: the corner of the drawing has the same coordinates entered for the center of the circle). My question is that I would like to connect two corners of the drawing to the center of both of the circles, as they have different coordinates. However, when I use the align command to try and connect the corners to their respective center of the circle, the drawing would disappear. Is there a way to fix this? Or would there be a better way to connect the base points? Thank you!

Novel use of ALIGN command for sure: so is GEOREFERNCING failing, or are you assuming copy/paste is the only option vs INSERT command?

Can you share your DWG files here?

This may be an ArcMap support issue then, see if that discontinued software is still supported over at Esri https://support.esri.com/en/arcmap-esri-plan
And try their user forum support https://community.esri.com/
