Moving objects freely around drawing

I am a novice on this program, and have a problem with one particular file I am working on. When I create an object and try to either move it or copy it, the program only allows me to move it along the x or y axis only. How can I turn off whatever setting this is so I can move these around freely? 

I have not encountered this issue with any other file I have worked on, and the one that is giving me problems is a dwg from an arena in Bangkok, and I have no idea what program it was created on.

Any suggestions much appreciated!

Tab the F8 button on your keyboard to turn off ORTHO: start HELP in the program, type ORTHO in the searh box and read up all about it.

Actually, tabbing f8 just brought up itunes, which was nice as I now have some Greig playing as I work 🙂 An added benefit...
