Moving blocks using grip points freezes the machine 3 times out of 5

Whenever I am moving blocks using grip points freezes the machine 3 times out of 5 which is very frustrating, the hardware exceeds required spec & it only seems to be when handling blocks, is it a common problem? Is a patch due?

What size is the drawing? Have you tried doing the same in a blank drawing with just the block?

Have you run an AUDIT on your drawing to see if there any problems in it which might have a knock on effect of making the block not work properly?

Thanks for you response.

Drawing Size is 7.9Mb

Yes just tried it on my templet file 4.5Mb & it moved Ok

I frequently run a Save, Purge, Audit & Save script to try & keep my drawing tidy.

I have used the block for years with no problems.

I guess I will have to remember to use the move function instead.

Do these blocks have hatches? Have you tried, as a test, to remove the hatches to see if the problem persists?
Then have you tried replacing all the hatches and testing to see if the problem persists?

Can you share these blocks? We all use the same software you do, our own blocks do not do that.

Yes it does have a small element of Solid hatch , I have attached to the Forum thread

LT 2024.1 - U119.0.0

Windows 10 Pro Vers 22H2

I will try editing the block to remove the hatch tomorrow as I have to get drawing issued today.

Thank you.

Thanks for the file sample. No crashes here for me:

Set GFXDX12 variable to 0 (that's a zero) then restart AutoCAD/LT2024: see if that helps.

Also consider turning off LINESMOOTHING and LINEFADING variables.

If still no relief then start GRAPHICSCONFIG command and change the 2D Display Settings pulldown from "advanced mode" to one of the other choices.

If all else fails, then turn off Hardware Acceleration as a last resort.

Any difference?

Update...I have swapped to Hatch layer & turned it off, also set GFXDX12 variable to 0 but it still hangs. It only does so when I use the grip but if I use the formal move command its Ok, wondering if it is because the block has a Y coordinate filed associated with the insert point which maybe confusing it...

I shall persevere, thanks for the suggestions & help

Took a screen grab of the action of moving the block by the grip when it froze along with Task Manager to indicate the stats at time of error occurring to see if that offers any enlightenment to the issue.

One of the blocks we use causes lag, this fixes all lag issues.

Thank you!
