Dear fellow AutoCAD users,
At work we use screenshots for production task lists. These screenshots require black objects on a white background. To do this, our drawings feature a monochrome paperspace tab. (model space is run with a black background) Screenshots are made using "greenshot", a screen capturing software. The outcome is rather pixelated, making images useless. See settings and screenshot below.
The workaround is to switch modelspace to a white background, make a screenshot and revert back to a black background. Having to do this 20 times a day is just plain cumbersome.
Long question short: how can we generate high resolution screenshots of a monochome paper space tab? Looking forward to reading useful suggestions. Thanks!

Not sure why there is a big difference in resolution when you do a screenshot in model vs layout. But there are lisp routines that you can run to quickly toggle your drawing background from black to white and back again like shown in this thread. Or this one as well. There are plenty of options like these out there. But perhaps the limitations are with your third party screen capturing software?
I suspect your text/dimes/mtext/whatever) is not at Z=0
And/or you have shademode not set to 2D
OR... see other replies.
Have you installed the 2022.1.5 Update yet? ABOUT command in your AutoCAD will confirm what you have installed. If not, get it from your Autodesk Account Page here https://manage.autodesk.com/cep/#products-services/updates
Restart your PC afterwards please.
If still no relief then start GRAPHICSCONFIG command and change the 2D Display Settings pulldown from "advanced mode" to one of the other choices.
HTH
there are lisp routines
Afraid I'm running 2022 LT. Need to install 2024 or later to be able to utilise Lisp. Thanks for the link - will look into it once I've upgraded.

One of my coworkers uses the same program (greenshot) to generate screenshots from modelspace and these look ever so sharp. Also, the image (below) presented in monochrome paperspace already looks pixelated so I suspect it is something to do with AutoCAD messing up the screen resolution using monochrome. The issue becomes even more obvious when screenshotting large objects with small dimensioning.
Perhaps try contacting the third party app to see if they can provide an answer?
As described above, the issue is not with the screen capturing app. The low resolution provided by the paperspace monochrome tab is the issue here.
Seeing as I use LT, everything is drawn (right word?) at Z=0. Doing otherwise is a pointless exercise.
Shademode is set to 2D wireframe.
Graphicsconfig does not offer "advanced mode" I'm afraid. See image below.
Looks like you’re not even running with hardware acceleration. Do your coworkers computers have the same configuration?
Try setting Gfxdx12 to 0 and restart LT. Then go back to GraphicsConfig window and see if hardware acceleration is now enabled and 2d Display Settings is in Advanced or Intermediate mode. Now see if in paperspace the resolution looks better with your screen capturing software
Thanks again for the immediate replies ![]()
I checked with my coworker, he runs hardware acceleration.
The GFXDX12 command is not available in LT2022 so no joy. ![]()

Ha! no, the program is still 3D, in LT you just cannot create 3DSolids,meshed or do any shading or rendering. Sorry.
Looks like your video card/driver and your LT2022 are not playing well together: there is going to be no fix unless INTEL has an older or newer driver version that can help. You'll want your IT folks to get involved now.
Installing new versions of LT may help (or make things worse), only you can find out.
Start exploring other options today.
The screenshot app (greenshot) has nothing to do with it as it can produce razorsharp screenshots from modelspace. It's what monochrome paperspace outputs where the problem lies.
Can you enter About command, do a screenshot and share that here?

Just downloaded LT 2025. Let's see if that makes any difference over LT 2022. Watch this space. ![]()
Make sure you also install 2025.1.1 LT update.
