Modify DWG file : generate (.log) files in folder of draw files

Good morning,

A customer uses Autocad LT 2024 to create or modify drawing files in (.dwg) format.

When he modifies his DWG file, files in (.txt) format are automatically generated in the DWG file directory. After closing the DWG file, the files (.txt) do not disappear, they must be deleted manually.

How to disable the automatic generation of these .txt files?

Thank you ! 😀

Hi,

really checked the file extension and it is .txt? Okay..

Share .txt filename / content, short: Share one of them.

Is it LT2024, or older?

Show us: screenshots from the user's Windows File Manager and perhaps a copy of this "TXT" file too please.

Is it possible that AutoCAD is creating log files of all the commands that run within a session?

Someone erased your Logfilepath setting

Options/Files/Position for Logfile or just LOGFILEPATH

Standard path is

C:\Users\<yourID>\appdata\local\autodesk\autocad lt 20nn\rnn\<lan>\ depend on your Version

Hi paullimapa and cadffm,

I checked the settings, and the locations are correct. Temporary drawing files generate (.ac$) files, unlike (.txt) files generated in the main drawing file directory.

Also, the options I just checked are for the drawing file itself, not a global Autocad configuration. If the problem was with the drawing file, the phenomenon would occur for all users in the company.

However, the generation of files (.txt) in the drawing folder only occurs with one person. The other four users have no problem with the same files.

Thank you for your answers 😀, have you got an another idea ?

Hi,

>"Temporary drawing files"

Why? This is for temporary drawing files, not for Log files.

Logfilepath should be the place,

checkout the path, is it the standard path(see above)

and check write access for this user to this folder.

Hi,

1. Please note, we are talking NOT about .txt files, we talking about .log files!

   In Win Explorer,

-View settings, use Details instead of Content. It's the better option in my opinion.

-Turn off "hide extensions" to see file extensions

2. I checked your last screenpost: So, your settings are not standard settings and your path seems very unusual for me

Save the path (copy/paste to somewhere), edit the path to c:\temp or C:\Users\<your I\AppData\Local\Temp

    and check the issue again.

After the test you can set the previous path again.

If the test didn't produce any different results, then it's a pity.
Did this solve the problem? Then take the problem to your CAD manager/CAD administrator/IT

@jcharlet Do yourself and the user a huge favor and stop hiding file extensions in Windows File Manager: you are relying on an unreliable file description to guide you instead of knowing exactly what file type you are trying to stop from creation.

Here is how you do that, do so now, then provide new screenshots from the user's Windows File Manager with the file extensions on display

Hello everyone,

I checked the settings with two people, and the configurations are identical. However, the problem seems to only affect one of the two people.

I displayed the file extensions, and I confirm that the generated files are in (.log) format.

A new phenomenon has occurred, the files (.log) have been generated on the user's Windows Desktop.

Thank you 😀

... and what does the latest/newest LOG file state? You can open it in Windows Notepad to read.
