LT 2022 Won't Save Plot Page Setup

Long time AutoCAD user here. Been out of the using AutoCAD for a few years and just downloaded AutoCAD LT 2022.

I have 2 plotting problems that I have spent many hours on trying to solve, that I just cannot get past.

Problem 1: I have setup and saved a plot configuration PC3 and when I open a new drawing, select the configuration, the saved settings are not there. This is a new configuration with a name that I created, so I know I am pulling in the correct configuration.

Problem 2: I can create and save a new page setup that works, but if I close the drawing and reopen it, the setup is gone. I can create the new setup again, run it and it will work and will then show up in the page setup and I am able to reuse it. If I open another drawing, the setup does not show up in the new drawing.

My past experience with these options are that once the PC3 or page setup is saved, it is saved forever and will work on whatever drawing is called up. I will note that if I plot successfully, close the drawing and open that drawing or any other drawing, selecting the previous plot setting will bring up the correct last settings. I'd also like to note that I have tried changing the file paths for the saved configurations. I can go to those folders and see the configuration file and verify the correct time stamp. I can reopen a drawing, select the PC3 configuration and the saved settings are gone.

Anyone have any tips for what I might be doing wrong? I all of the many years of using AutoCAD, I have never experienced this type of issue. It is usually set and forget.

Thanks for any input on this.

Todd

Hi,

it sounds all like a user (remember) problem, but perhaps i am wrong?

1. PC3 is a plotterconfiguration file,

nothing to do with a dwg.

2. Pagesetups are saved in a DWG, nothing to do with other dwg files.

to 1.)

i am not really sure what you tried to say,

perhaps you are talking a pagesetup(nothing to do with other files)

or you really talking about a setting inside a PC3 file.

In this case i am sure, whatever you missed in a new drawing, it is the same with all new opend drawings.

If you talking about a pc3 setting, make sure you save these changes.

Autocad ask about temporary change, or do you like to save the pc3 file.

Newbies often doesn't read this dialog and wrongly don't save the pc3 changes. (i know, you are not a newbie).

Last idea: You changed the supportpath? Make sure you have just one path for pc3 files, or make sure you don't have multiple files with the same name.

 to 2.)

Pagesetups are part of the tab in this files,

named pagesetups are part of this file.

And if you create a DWT template file for new files, all settings are only for new dwg files based on this dwt.

These DWG are not linked to the DWT.

Hoping parts of my answer is helpful for you.

P1) You appear to have forgotten one golden rule: Each Tab in Each DWG file requires a unique setup, your system setup is always ignored. Always.
P2) part1: what are you calling a "page setup" and how exactly did you save it? part2: you forgot the golden rule I noted above based on your statement "... If I open another drawing, the setup does not show up...".

Are you looking for tips on how to save and import saved pagesetups from a template file using PSETUPIN command? Here is an overview/quick tutorial https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2019/ENU/AutoC...

I have this same problem, using 2021. I completed setting-up pages for our 2 plotters with options to plot on different paper sizes. So i am using one drawing template and I used page setup manager, save the settings. All the saved settings are still available in the file when i open the file the next day. But I did not open the file for several days and i could not find now the settings i created. They are all gone. is there a way i can recover all the works i did?

@Anonymous Forgive me but I don't follow: is there a chance you opened the wrong template file (the one you worked on is somewhere else)?

Or did your older backup replace your edited file on your cloud server or PC/Laptop aka a versioning issue?

There is no "if you don't use it you lose it" setting in AutoCAD files, they are either there or no.

let us know.

We are experiencing the same issue.  We have multiple different page setups for different clients and we are only having this issue on two computers where we lose the setting after we print the drawing.

Are you "importing" the pagesetup from the plot dialog box?

If you import the pagesetup that way it is not "remembered" in the drawing. The pagesetup needs to be "imported" from when you type PAGESETUP at the command line and then import them that way.
