layout template does not appear

When I insert a standard AutoCAD template from the drop-down; no problem. When I insert a layout template I created it makes the layout tab but I can't see anything my drawing is blank. I tried plot preview and it is blank too. I'm using 2014 LT. I also have trouble inserting blocks in layouts in paperspace.

Hi,

May I request to put your created template here so we can examine.

Thanks,

Glen

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the AutoCAD LT forums!

If possible can you please provide a sample template?

A few questions:

  • What OS are you running ACAD LT2014 on?
  • Does this happen on any other systems?

As a test could you try logging as a different user on your system, run AutoCAD LT 2014 with full admin rights and try testing your template. Let me know if you have the same issue.

Hi, thanks for the response. My employer won't give me full administrator rights. Only the IT folks get that. Also, it may be a glitch due to DOD required program changes when they buy customized AutoCAD.

My program which was newly installed on a new laptop only a couple months ago worked great at first and its been going downhill since. It does freaky things randomly like screen going black or the icons just start to freak out by flashing like crazy. Sometimes it totally locks-up and I have to reboot to get going again.

I have the most problems when I multi-task with multiple drawings or multiple programs running at the same time. It's like it just all-of-a-sudden says, "hell no, I aint doing that" then quits. It could be anything, copy, paste regen etc... It's very random.

I think it may have to do with RAM (only 8) or my graphic card. When I talk to my IT folks about it they look at me like I'm nuts.

Amazingly, I still do manage to get some work done but have some really frustrating days.

LT2014 is not supported in Win10 http://autode.sk/1IY4C2X

You seem to be describing system level issues, RAM alone is probably not enough to fix it. It may be a graphics card driver issue, something got updated in Win10.

Okay,

You could give the IT folks on the military base the following system requirements you will need to run AutoCAD LT 2014.

If you are able to run a newer AutoCAD LT release like 2016,2017,2018 those releases have been tested and coded to work with a Windows 10 environment. That would be one option.

You could also have your IT department or you can try the following if possible:

  • Uninstalling/reinstalling the graphics driver / Also try a universal driver /
  • Make exemptions for AutoCAD in the antivirus programs that they have running on your system.
