Issue with Specifying a scale factor when pasting objects into a drawing

I recently discovered the following trick for scaling while copying and pasting objects

But when I try to do it, in the same drawing or in another one, the objects always paste in the (0,0), the objets do not scale and the mleader and dimensions are left behind in the place where the object was suppose to pasted.

Hi,

Before you copy your desire object make sure that the units of the drawing and the other drawing have the same units. You can see it by using UNITS command make sure they have the same units and Insertion scale. Please see picture below.

Second, When you're copying objects you need to specify the Copybase point of the objects using Ctrl+Shift+C then pick the basepoint of the objects. after that you can paste it to your desire drawing. Please see attach drawing for your reference.

Thanks for the quick response, now with respect to the the suggestions:

1 - The units are the same, still does not work

2 - Although specifying the base point for copying, still does not work

Not enough information: elaborate please, what are you pasting (object types), and what phase of the process described in your link does the insertion happen?

"still doesn't work" tells us ntohing way over here, remember, we can't see your screen, we have no access to your files, nor can we see what you are actually doing.

For example, i have a simple rectangle of 1000x1000, with the bottom left corner at (4000,4000). I want to copy and paste it scale by 4 and then insert in (10000,10000). This is the command line process:

Command: _copyclip 1 found

Command: _pasteclip Duplicate definition of block _Oblique  ignored.

Specify insertion point: X

Specify X scale factor <1>: 4

Specify insertion point: Y

Specify Y scale factor <1>: 4

Specify insertion point: 10000,10000

In the attached image you can see that the result is not the expected one

Hi @Anonymous,

I agree that this doesn't scale or place the object at different scale or insertion point. This action ceased to work like prior releases beginning with AutoCAD 2015.

I will log this issue with the QA/Dev team.

For now, if you are pasting complex selections sets, I suggest that you paste as a block so you can scale and move in an easier fashion.

As noted by others, your object needs to be a BLOCK before you can only scale it in X axis. Is it? I cannot repeat your commandline as you've shown it.

Post your DWG file, let's all have a look for ourselves.

I am actually able to get it to work in AutoCAD 2014 but that appears to be the last version where it did work.

I guess I never thought about even using this before. I prefer to use blocks and inserts to keep things clean.
