How to use count table in an irregular area

I need to count blocks per room, each room has a different shape, is it possible to convert a Polyline into a count boundary as the polygonal option does not allow me to create a boundary within this space.

The polygonal option should work (see the two images below). Are you right clicking after you've selected your last point and then choosing enter?

IF I right click then it cancels the command. If I go In a direction where the start and end of the polygon crosses over another line in the polygon then the cursor stops and AutoCAD LT refuses to go beyond that point. In the screenshots I have sent you can see that I cant move past where I have drawn the cursor in. And the rest of that area has more turns

Sorry I forgot to add after the first right click to finish the polygon area you need to do another right click and then select ENTER.

Can you post your drawing so we can see for ourselves what's happening

Sorry I cannot share the full plans. I figured if I start with the longest side I don't run into much issues. However, is there a way to make a curved count area? A semi circle for example.

Unfortunately not I've just tried it. The "shape" has to consist of line segments only
