How to change the Z geometry

Anonymous
Not applicable

So a customer provided me with a DXF file to use.

I'm having issues completing the conversion process because the program says that this file contains 3D geometry and my program only recognizes 2D.

After reviewing the file, the customer has set the lines @ Z -2.0.

I can change one line at a time to the correct height (Z 0).

I have hundreds of lines i would have to do this to.

How do I multiple selected lines to the correct Z height at one time?

I figured out a work around however it is as time consuming if not more  than changing one line at t time and in my job I can not afford to spend too much time on one file.

QSELECT command, object type=Line, operator=SelectAll, open the properties pallet and change start z and end z to 0.

.... or just select everything on screen since more than just lines are probably at Z>0, then do the same fix (open the properties pallet and change all "z" offerings to zero, as well as THICKNESS if not zero).

When I select all my options in the properties pallet are less than when I select only one line.

I can not make any changes to Z when multiple lines are selected.

Is it because I'm using  LT instead of the full version?

I ran into a situation before where LT was missing a feature (that could have made life easier) that was available in the full version.

Hi @Anonymous,

It sounds like you have a variety of elements selected instead of just lines when you are trying to do this.  Can you attach your file?I can take a look and see if there is anything unusual in it.

You have to sort by object type in PROPERTIES: that's the pulldown list at the top of the PROPERTIES palette to see all the options for each type of object. You knew that already I suspect.

Works the same in LT and "full" AutoCAD.

If you have multiple lines selected, does it say line(#) at the top of the properties pallet or does it say All(#) If it say's all, you can click the down arrow and change it to just line or polyline and you should be able to set the z values.

Thank you to everyone who chimed in on my problem.

I am new to Autocad and learning on the go for my job.

Thanks again and have a great day.

Genius.

It may be necessary to go into a 3d view after and change a few rogue elements but after a day of frustration this has been a life saver. Thanks.
