How can i find my drawing in model space ?

Hello and thanks for any help or advice.

I have exported a DWG file from fusion 360 into Autocad LT 2015.  For information this is going to be a bed plate for a 3d printer I am designing for a hobby project.

When i open the drawing in autocad i can see it fine in paper space, but when i click the model space tab i cannot find my drawing. I tried Zoom extent but cannot find the drawing objects.  I also modified the layer colours to something that i thought would show up, but no.

So how can a find my drawing object in model space.

I have been using autocad for about 10 years, but i am not an advanced user and never really understood paper space and dont use normally for my drawings and i always work in model space all the time.

Many thanks best regards Chris

Friend, your fear of layouts is a handicap in this instance. Simply select the object in your layout, its just a picture, its not a drawing. You exported a picture.

Go back to Fusion360 to see if you can actually export dxf or dwg as objects to manipulate in modelspace or go ask in the Fusion360 forum and ask if that is even an option and how to do it.

Good luck.

It’s definitely created as a dwg as fusion only gives options for dwg and pdf. I had the same problem previously and I cured it by changing the layer colour. I then found a tiny spec in model space that I zoomed in to find my drawing hiding, but that didn’t work for me this time. Did you inspect my dwg or was an assumption. Thanks for the advice could you have another look for me. I could ask if anyone has managed to export from fusion into autocad. I’m happy to believe it’s my mistake

Thanks regards Chris

Seek out the Fusion360 forum and ask over there how to get modelspace content in a dwg file, I'm sure its something simply if you've done it before.

Your posted file only contains a picture in the layout of your design object.

Use the "export layout to model" command which you can find under the main 'file' tab of the menu. This will prompt for the creation of a new dwg file from that drawing view and once opened you can explode the resulting block in model space.

Thanks Steve

I didn't have it in the Export Tab but found an option under "save as " new drawing.   That worked perfectly. I didn't need to explode the drawing is was already done, I just had to delete the unwanted drawing boarder. Many thank for the head up and help.

Regards Chris
