Help not visible

I have downloaded and installed the AutoCAD LT help file for 2016.  Help does not show up whenever I click on the Help under the "?" icon or when I type in _help in the command line.  Clicking on help enters _help in the command line so it is trying to open it up.  Windows taskbar shows that hep is "open" when I hover over the image but nothing happens when I click the image.  It's as if it is hidden behind the program and will not come to the "foreground".

Thanks pendean but I am running 2 monitors.  I tried your suggestion anyway and it did cascade all the windows but the help window.

I will remeber your suggestion, though, as it has happend to me before.

Thanks.

Welcome to the AutoCAD LT forums.

Have you seen or tried the suggestions made here?

Thanks for the suggestion, Sarah.

The help and misc. file names is pointed to "c:\program files\autodesk\autocad lt 2016 help\english\help\index.html" where the installer located the files.  I also tried the file "c:\program files\autodesk\autocad lt 2016 help\english\help\indexACDLT.html"  With no help either.

The reference you gave showed a .chm file.  There are two files with that extension in that directory but the Select File dialog box will only let me choose a file with .html extensions.  The two files are ole_err.chm and webbrw.chm.

CHM files are long dead and not in use: that's an old topic that covers old versions of AUtoCAD.

Did you use the 'migration' feature when you started using this version of LT?

For the past 2 months I had been using ACADLT 2016 on a desk top PC while I was waiting for my laptop to come in.  Everything was working fine at that point.  The IT guy at my company moved all the files to my laptop and installed all the software.  There really wasn't any migration.  The .cmh files were loaded when I downloaded the help for AutoCAD this morning.

What is the Windows OS on the laptop? LT2016 requires he SP1 patch to work well with Win10 for example.

Did you also remember to set HELP to be local by turning off ACCESS ONLINE CONTENT for help in OPTIONS command?

Make sure LT2016 is fully patched and updated either way: I'm not able to find a fix for your problem sadly. Is your second monitor plugged in? Which monitor is designated by LT as the primary?

Hi pendaen,

so here is what is strange.  I have ACADLT2016 open in a "restore down" - small window, not full screen.  I open task manager and right click on ACAD LT Help and select full size and voila, now there is the help screen.  I will be playing around with this to see if I can force it to the foreground.
