Help: Infinite line instead of text on dimension

I opened a file today and it seems that some dimensions have an infinite line in place of the dimension text. It doesn't seem to be annotative related. I'm stumped on this - any help?

Nothing like that here with your own file: start GRAPHICSCONFIG command, turn off hardware acceleration, and see if that helps.

I'm getting the same results as @pendean with the file you posted - new and existing dimensions appear normal. It's most likely something specific to your system.

Can you post screenshots of the windows produced by the commands GRAPHICSCONFIG and ABOUT?

Unusual indeed! Because of the way the video is cropped, I can't quite tell what commands you're using. It looks like you might be clicking the dimension button (DIM command). Are you using a different command/button to create the dimensions with the infinite lines? Does the DIMLINEAR command yield the same results?

Not sure if it's related, but I'm curious if turning hardware acceleration back on affects anything. Your graphics card meets the minimum requirements for AutoCAD LT 2019. If anything, you might try turning off line smoothing (LINESMOOTHING command > off). 

Does this happen only with dimensions using this dimstyle, or do any and all dimensions have the same issue?

If you haven't already, try resetting AutoCAD to defaults. This will rule out any custom settings as potential causes.

That's correct, I'm using DIMLINEAR command. DIM command does the same thing.

Turning off LINESMOOTHING and resetting AutoCad settings didn't work either. Now I've lost all my custom workspace settings - how do I restore it from the backup Zip?

Thanks for trying that out. You can restore your custom settings by loading the zip file with the Import utility. 

Is this issue unique to this specific dimstyle? If you change the dimstyle of an affected dimension, does the line remain? If you draw a dimension with a different dimstyle, do you get the same result? 

Is it just random whether the dimension displays the text properly or an infinite line? It looks like it's switching between the two, in the video.

I think you're right, it's the Dim style. It's become corrupt - other styles work ok. How do I fix this?

I FINALLY figured out the problem.

The text style that the Dim was using was Arial Narrow at 0.75 width. I changed the font to plain Arial and it fixed the dimension. For some reason AutoCAD 2019 doesn't like Arial Narrow...
