Help! Customized F-Keys not working...

I am an avid min/maxer when drafting and always trying to make things faster and easier for myself. I am trying to swap the commands linked to the F-Keys but am having trouble...

I constantly toggle OSNAP (F3) and ORTHOMODE (F8), so I changed them to something more ergonomical--F6 and F7, respectively--in the CUI's keyboard shortcuts, but they aren't working. F7 is still turns on the grid and F6 does nothing. Clearly I am doing something wrong. Been using AutoCAD for 3 years so still relatively new, any help would be greatly appreciated!

running AutoCAD LT 2024

Did you erase the old F6 definition from CUIx then used this the exact step-by-step process you used to create new F6 / F7 by chance (and did you restart the program)

This partially worked! I got Ortho now bound to F6 but cannot get OSNAP to be rebound to anything except F3 (tried F4,5,7). In the CUI, "Toggles Object Snap Mode" is under the "Temporary Override Keys" and not under "Shortcut Keys" like "Toggle Ortho." not sure if that has anything to do with it...

Because of how i keep my hand on the keyboard and the "ergo" shape of the keyboard, I can now easily hit the F6 without having to look at the keyboard. the F3 for OSNAP isn't terrible, but it be nice just to make it something more comfortable.

I am also using a Corsair Dark Core Mouse with 4 additional buttons on them. It would be awesome to get OSnap on one of those actually...when I press them in Model Space just a number comes in the command line (1-4 for each of the four buttons). In the CUI I'm trying to see how I can Map OSnap to one of these Mouse Clicks and under "click" I see the various buttons...but how to get the two to talk! Sorry for rambling and thanks again for the reply, it's already been a huge help!

Silly question maybe, but are you using the software for the mouse?  I never had much luck trying to assign things to mouse buttons through the CUI, but I never tried very hard because the software (Logitech) I use with the mouse is actually a bit more functional than the CUI...I don't know what the Corsair software can do, but...

Depending on how you toggle snaps, NON, Enter programed into a peripheral will suppress snaps for the current selection, and then restore snaps to whatever OSMODE bitcode you were previously using, after the Command finishes...

Or, placing the macro for snaps toggle on the Quick Acess Toolbar and programing the mouse button to Alt, whatever number will use key tips to toggle like F3

thanks for the reply...I ended up going this route--using corsiar's iCue software and binding my most often used commands (Snap and Trim) to the Front and Back buttons of the mouse. I don't know how I ever survived before, huge comfort of life boost and drafting like a beast.
