Help cannot get ACAD LT 2024 to open and read Dropbox stored CAD files

DropBox will not allow ACAD LT 2024 which resides on my desktop PC to connect to the files. It offers AutoCAD (web app) as an option, which does not allow full use of the program.

Have you seen this? Specifically "Access from a File Dialog Box"

Is the File Dialog Box a part of AutoCAD?
Is that is the box at the bottom of the screen where you can type in a command?

I think my issue may be based in Dropbox not connecting to ACAD LT 2024 with has been installed on my PC.

The "AutoCAD (web app)" is the only Dropbox offering of accessing the AutoCAD files, this allows preview with minimal (maybe no) changes to the file.

I have also been to Aclauncher to setup teh ACAD LT 2024 connection. This works in the Windows environment but does not takehold in the Dropbox environment.

greetings @mklancicABX8U

You must be reading about AutoCADWEB and DropBox connectivity and getting distracted by it all I suspect.

LT2024 requires your DWG files to be accessed on your computer, not in a webbrowser. Do you have the DropBox program installed on your PC yet?

it will add a "drive" on your PC like this below then your LT2024 program can access all of your dropbox files from that location ON YOUR PC

That's it. Use OPEN command in LT2024 to get to that location to get to your dropbox files.

Hope that helps.

Hi.

Thank you for the reply.

Yes the Dropbox program is already installed with the files I need to access.
It is not clear to me what you typed that "it will add a "drive" on your PC like this below" I see nothing below.

Might I have to uninstall Dropbox and try again?
Is there a cue to add a link or connection to AutoCAD?

The OPEN command in the LT2024 does not allow - actually does not even find the Dropbox directory of files.

I have hit this from the AutoCAD side and the Dropbox side and I am waiting for a Dropbox response.

Thanks again.

To find the exact path where your Dropbox files are stored:

There should be a Dropbox App icon in the system tray next to the clock that looks like this:

paullimapa_3-1690253409034.png

Right mouse click on this Dropbox App icon

On the upper right hand corner click on the image representing your account

On the menu that appears select Preferences

On the Dropbox Preferences window click on the Sync tab

Your Dropbox files are typically stored under your windows User profile.

So with AutoCAD LT's Open command in Select File window you should now be able to navigate to that location.

all of your DropBox folders and files are stores on your PC here and that is where you use OPEN command in LT2024 to get to them (where I scratched my name out is where your PC/Windows login name goes)

You can double-check that location in your DropBox app

If you need more help finding your DROPBOX files on your computer, DROPBOX support is over here (they have a nice chat box that opens up where you can communicate with them) https://www.dropbox.com/support

I disconnected the Dropbox from my personal email and reassigned it to my new email with the new firm that I am working for.  Then like magic access yo the ACAD file completely with xref files.

thanks for your time.
