Frozen xref layers appears on drawing

Hello! 

I have a problem with frozen layers. In the Xref they are frozen, but when xreffed in to the model that contains the xref, they appear..?! 

I've checked that the layer in the xref and the model that contains the xref does not have the same name or layer. 

What other steps can i take to fix this? 

(I've encountered this several times before but this time it ends

Start LAYER command in the topmost file: is the XREF layer you want frozen actually frozen? That's all that matters in the end, what is the setting in your topmost file.

After you freeze it there, look up VISRETAIN variable in HELP: it is a per-file setting and your top file(s) probably have a setting you might wish to change.

Yes, the layer is frozen and visretain is set to "0".

The layer is named "0" and usually when models are xreffed the layer is called "filename | layername" in Layercommand but i cant find such a layer...

Is layer "0" meant to not be xreffed?

Show me a screenshot of your XREF command window, and a screenshot of your LAYER command window: if you cannot find them they are not there or you have a layer override in place.

BTW Layer 0 is a system layer that you should never put anything on. Other than needing to be on/thawed all the time, forget about it.

Thanks for the information about layer 0!

Its common that we receive models which contains various amounts of lines etc.

I uploaded three pictures on Layer command and Xref command. 

Its probably that the layer is 0 that makes it difficult to use the script to remove. 

What do you think?

1. VISRETAIN in your top file needs to be on before you "xref" in any files if you want the XREF layer settings to follow. Isn't that the effect you want?

2. You wrote "... the layer is called "filename | layername" in Layer command but i cant find such a layer...." see below, these are layers of the two xrefs you have, more can be seen if you scroll down. Or am I missing something?

Its hard to describe the problem in english. 

1. Yes, thats the effect i want. Im familiar with visretain but even though visretain is set to "0" and the script freezes the objects i want to be frozen, they appear anyway when xreffed. I now believe the problem is that the objects is in layer "0".

2. precisely, layer "0" doesnt follow when xreffed. 

Otherwise it should be named something like "A30-40-P01| 0".

I think the solution is to ask the architect to change the objects in layer "0".

VISRETAIN needs to be set to 1 in the top file, not zero, which I suspect is what you truly want.
