Fields turning to text automatically

Hi everyone

I installed AutoCAD LT 2023 a couple of months ago when it launched, but now that I am starting a new project, I found something weird.

I want to use sheetsets et put fields on my title block's attributes, something I am used to do. But this morning, as soon as I apply the field, it automatically revert to basic text. No grey background, all the windows to manage attributes (double click to the block, batman, etc.) show text instead of a field... Of course, changing the project number in the sheetset doesn't update anything that should be update by the field.

I first said myself that maybe Autodesk silently removed that feature from LT edition, I tried with another computer here at the office but it seems to work there. I uninstalled AutoCAD, reinstalled from scratch without importing any setting, I have found that now multiline attributes (and multiline texts) retain fields, but not single line attributes.

Do you have an idea on what is hapening ? A bug ? My version is 53.0.0 and there seem to have no updates to install...

EDIT: I found that there was a update even though Autodesk Desktop app said there were no updates. I applied the latest update 2023.1, now running T114.0.0, but still the same bug.

Thanks

Show us in a video, I cannot replicate the issue here in LT2023.1, perhaps I'm not doing it the same way.

This recorder from Autodesk is free https://knowledge.autodesk.com/community/screencast

You can see it here: https://autode.sk/3KtFfst

I did it on a new file based on acadltiso.dwt, not in a block directly but with attdef in the main drawing but it shows the same bug as if it was in a block.

Thanks for the video. I am unable to replicate it here in LT2023.1 in Win10Pro

Looks strange... do you know of any system variable or anything that could make Autocad convert fields to text ? Actually I know I can right click a field then select Convert Field to Text, but I am not aware of a setting that does this behavior automatically... But I reinstalled Autocad from scratch so there is no reason for such setting to be changed from its default.

Not that I am aware of... This might be a dumb question or two or three:
Did you restart your computer yet?
did you try any other fields?
Did you try adding a field that is not an attribute definition?
Did you try in other DWG files?

Restart : for sure, always step 1 to every problem !

Try other fields : Not all of course but all the one I tried had the same behavior

I added a field to a Multiline text and it seem to work as expected, but it already works fine with multiline attributes...

Try another DWG: yes I opened another project that is made the same way, fields already there are still there. But as soon as I replace the field, it reverts to text...

I reinstalled AutoCAD, I installed a keylogger to make sure I had no ghost keys triggered that could cause such bug... Only other step left is a full Windows reinstall I guess.

Open a support case with Autodesk if you are on subscription to seek out Autodesk Support's help before you go that far: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/customer-service/account-management/users-software/support-options/we...

Little follow up after I've been helped by Autocad's support, they couldn't reproduce either and couldn't find any solution...

But I finally found it myself, and post it here in case it could happen to someone else.

A little while ago, I had to enable "Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support" in Windows to try something, but I didn't disabled it afterwhile. That seems to be what caused the problem.
