Hello!
I've been experiencing some problems with a particular set of drawings that I've been using for the past couple weeks. The drawing is not particularly complicated; 6 viewports in paperspace, 2 arrays with embedded hatches along with a couple simple drawings on the side in Model Space. Basically when i open this drawing I attempt to add/draw/delete anything, and eventually (after maybe 2 min of tampering) the cursor stops repsonding and crashes giving me a Fatal Error (Violation reading 0xfffffffffffff at exception e428d2dch).
I don't have a problem with any of my other drawings, and the main difference between them seems to be the amount of viewports. In my other drawings I typically have at most 2 and run into trouble only with the drawings with the 6 viewports or more.
I've double checked that my system is capable of running LT 2015 and has ample abilities to get the job done but will crash everytime this drawing is open.
I've also ran Audit along with _purge to no avail. It should be noted that I've had this problem before, used Audit and purge, and that did the trick. But that solution no longer seems to do it.
I've been struggling with this all day, and any advice or insights into what might be going on would be very appreciated! Thanks.
By recover the drawing, do you mean to restore it back to a previous version of itself?
Wouldn't WBLOCK recreate my drawing as an entire block? If so, would I be able to edit my viewports and arrays individually if need be in the future?
Thanks for the quick response!
Recover will recover the drawing in it's current state.
WBLOCK simply "write" blocks it out as a new clean drawing, that you are then able to edit as before.
It's a good way to clean up a dirty drawing. Make sure in the wblock dialog that you check "entire drawing".
"RECOVER" is a separate command, you can invoce it from the keyboard, or via the "DRAWING UTILITIES" menu that pops up when you press the main icon (the big red "A" in upper left corner). It scans the file and repairs the database. You call it (best) from empty drawing after opening the application.
Thanks everyone for the tips!
I'm back in the office on Monday and will have access to my files then. I'll keep you posted on what I end up finding! 🙂
Hey everyone,
Tried RECOVER and WBLOCK but the problem still persists. Any other ideas?
I was thinking maybe the arrays or hatch layers could be the problem so I deleted them, but AutoCAD still crashes.
Hmm...
I've had once problem with layout. Try erasing the layout tabs and recreating them.
Also, if you have some xrefs - recover and purge them
Did the recover show any errors in the database?
No errors from the Recovery database.
Regenerating the drawings seems like the only way I can salvage the drawings without AutoCAD crashing. Thanks for the help!
You can try also checking for layer filters. In some cases they appear in huge amount from nowhere.
