Failed to Connect, Link may be broken

I'm creating an Autocad file with parts of an Excel file inside linked using the paste special command.
If I move or rename the files I get the following error "failed to Connect, Link may be broken".
How do I restore the connection? Is it possible to move and rename files without losing the link?
Thank you

Moving and renaming indeed does that: you will need to re-link them (kind of like when you move homes without telling anyone, no one will ever find you again).

Maybe I didn't explain myself. I can't restore the connections. Anyway, thanks for the enlightening reply.

Points 1-5 do not work. Already tried.

If I reopen the file with a changed name and/or position, Autocad crashes.

It seems to be a cloud problem.

The files I use are on a corporate network in the cloud (sharepoint). Any bright ideas? In addition to the classic explanations?

Thank you

SharePoint and AutoCAD have issues working together: sorry, not my area, I would have avoided replying to your post had it been clear this was a Sharepoint situation.

But your software should not be crashing: can you post a screenshot of the following commands inside your AutoCAD/LT software please:
- ABOUT command
- GRAPHICSCONFIG command

TIA

To try to fix the crashing issue... Install the 2024.1.6 / 2025.1.1 Update: get it from your Autodesk Account Page here https://manage.autodesk.com/cep/#products-services/updates
Restart your PC afterwards please.

If that did not help stop the crashing... Set GFXDX12 variable to 0 (that's a zero): a restart of your AutoCAD/LT2024 is required for it to take effect.

If still no relief then start GRAPHICSCONFIG command and change the 2D Display Settings pulldown from "advanced mode" to one of the other choices.

The above is going to have very little effect on your SharePoint and AutoCAD issue, I'm just trying to help your AutoCAD stop crashing so freuqently.

To see if it’s really a cloud problem copy the excel file from the cloud to your local drive like My Documents folder. Then open a blank drawing and save that also under My Documents. Now try doing paste special link with the excel file that’s under My Documents and then do a save. Next close the drawing and move the Excel file from My Documents to Desktop folderNow reopen the same drawing under My Documents. The link should be broken now because you moved the Excel file but does your AutoCAD crash?  If it still crashes then it has nothing to do with cloud files. Do what @pendean stated to update your AutoCAD LT version by:

Install the 2024.1.5 Update: get it from your Autodesk Account Page here https://manage.autodesk.com/cep/#products-services/updates
Restart your PC afterwards please.
