DYNAMIC DOOR BLOCKS

Question # 1

I recently purchased  Autocad LT and my profession is interior design. I was working with Architecture before and liked working with the dynamic door and window blocks within the program. i have tried editing the existing dynamic door block in Autocad LT to include a wipeout feature for the walls when the door is inserted in the wall. Is it possible to edit the existing dynamic door block to include the wipeout feature even when the door width / size is change like from 30" to 36" wide ???? I realize that the walls can also be trimmed but the dynamic wipeout feature would be more convenient and faster in drawing revisions.

Question # 2

My other question relates to placing a furniture layout drawing onto a floor finishes drawing which indicates the direction or pattern of the floor. If I put the furniture layout into a block is it possible to assign a wipeout feature to the furniture block so that when placed on the floor finishes drawing the areas of the floor covered by the furniture are blocked out and not visible when the drawing is plotted ????  Again I know this is possible by trimming but once again this process would be much faster - please confirm

I look forward to your response.

For #2, WIPEOUT command is an option (explained in HELP) or add a hatch set to RGB 255,255,255 inside the block definition itself.

Hi Dean

The wipe out feature works for any rectangular object but I also have circular furniture objects in the furniture layout block. Is it possible to assign wipeout to circular and irregular shaped objects? See revised Furniture Layout drawing file attached

Thanks

See the other tip about solid hatches inside your blocks: BEDIT or REFeDIT commands to get inside your blocks to add them, DRAWORDER command for fix the display order inside the block if needed.

Hi Dean

I am still having difficulty with the dynamic door block and adding a wipeout feature to the block to allow the door to be positioned anywhere on a wall layout and automatically wipeput the wall area.

I have attached a dwg drawing. The door A in the dwg is the Autocad Imperial door block that I would like to modify to include the wall wipeout feature. Door B is a door block that I created but it does not have the multifunction options I need. I had Autocad Architecture before working on my current  Autocad LT software. Is it possible to import dynamic door and window blocks into Autocad LT from Autodesk ? This would allow me many more options when designing a buiding layout.

I look forward to your response.

LT has dynamic blocks, just like AutoCAD: but no "ARCH" style doors from that variant.

The Dynamic Blocks forum is probably where you need to be posting with your sample block and follow up questions http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/dynamic-blocks/bd-p/154
