Hello, while saving DWG to PDF, in the plotter configuration can't add custom paper size width greater than 120". There are few PDF plotters in my AutoCAD, but non of them allows that.

what can be the solution?

my product is AutoCAD LT 2018, Windows 10

Hi @anat_itkin,

Which printer driver did you select?  I suggest starting with the AutoCAD PDF (General Documentation) and select propertiesnext to the printer driver in the plot window. From there, you should be able to configure a custom paper size.

Hi John,
thank you for response
.

I do choose the AutoCAD PDF (General Documentation) driver.
In paper configuration window I'm not able to enter longer than 3000 mm
long paper size, receiving an error message, see the picture attached.
This issue happens with all other DWG to PDF printers, such as: Primo, Adobe
, PDF Architect
etc
.

Lately we work with PDF rather than PLT
.
Still trying to figure out the way to print long drawing without cutting
them apart
.

I work on AutoCAD LT 2019, Windows 10, PC

thanks

Hi @anat.itkin,

I am not sure how you are adding the paper size so I made a quick video that shows how I am able to do this in my AutoCAD LT 2019 using one of the built in PDF drivers.

Please let me know if this method works for you too.

John,

I customize same way as you do in the video. But,  would you mind try to enter 10000 mm or greater?

Extra Long paper sizes are available for PLT drivers, but with PDF I have problem- width limitation error. I heard same problems having my colleges too.

The interesting thing is, that, today I managed to enter 5000 mm long width, the driver accepted it, (instead of 3000 mm yesterday).

Probably it is a bug.

thank you very much for effort

here in screenshot: I entered 3000 mm long width, then error message appeared:PDf paper size.jpg

Hi @anat_itkin,

The largest size this driver will take in my AutoCAD LT 2018 is also 5000mm.

Hi @anat_itkin,

Your original question stated that you couldn't find a driver that allowed a width greater than 120". It appears that converts to 3,048 mm which is smaller than the 5,000 mm we were both able to configure in a custom page size.

I am not sure what the end result is intended to do as I am not personally aware of a printer that can handle such a large size.

Hi John,

thank you for asking.

The bottom line is that I'm able to create up to 5000 mm long paper.

Israeli permission plan drawings are usually arranged on a very wide paper, so I'm still  having limitation publishing them, in that case we split the drawing.

Here is what Autodesk expert Alfred NESWADBA   wrote me:

As you already found out, it's a limitation of the file format "PDF", the definitions of PDF does not support longer paper sizes.
Even if Autodesk would try to create longer PDF's you won't get them opened in any of the viewers.
As the PDF is a file-format that is not defined by Autodesk it's not possible that Autodesk can solve that. You might ask Adobe as they created that format in the 1990's if they might change that in the future.
If this limitation is changed I'm sure that all the software-companies writing PDF's will adopt their software.
I know that the answer is not what you wanted to hear, but it's a limitation for a file-format which Autodesk does not control.
If you have any questions to that, please let me know them!
Kindest regards
Alfred NESWADBA

Reading this answer, I sent request to Autodesk Product Managers to solve this issue with Adobe...no answer yet...

Kindest regards,

Anat Itkin

I know in most offices I have worked, we plot most longplots directly from autocad, as printing a 500 GB pdf will usually fail, and distribution of the physical print is usually limited, due to their size.
