Downloading New Text Style

I've recently download a new font style, and loaded it in the necessary file destination, but when I go into AutoCAD and attempt to change the font to the new font style I can not find it in the list of font styles. I feel like there is an easy solution to this, but it's completely eluding me.

Is this an SHX font, or a TTF font?
And where do you think it needed to go exactly?

Note: not ALL TTF fonts work with AutoCAD, is that the problem? OPENTYPE are not supported.

It was a .shx file. I was able to figure it out though. Thanks for the quick reply.
