Disable 3D Feature?

We only use the 2D feature of Autocad in our practise, never 3D. This isn't a problem in normal drawings, however if we have to bring in a drawing done by a surveyor etc which has 3d elements, for the rest of the drawing proces we have to keep checking our lines and changing their z axis properties as they skew off the 2d plane (refer to attached image)the3D deatures completely, or a quick way to ensure once a drawing is done that all lines are on the same 2D Z plane?

surveyor drawings by their nature are in three dimensions: ask the file create to "2D' the files for you if needed in their full AutoCAD capable versions of FLATTEN command.

"3D" cannot be turned off in LT: the Z direction is always present and available. If you upgrade to full AutoCAD there is an OSNAPZ option that can help you ignore it. But it's cheaper to simply coordinate your requirements with the surveyor files creator I think.

Hi @Anonymous,

Getting the file in 2D from your surveyor might be the very best option. If this is not feasible, try printing the file to a high quality PDF and then import it into a new drawing. This works pretty nicely in AutoCAD LT 2017.

Another option is to plot to a DXB file and then use DXBIN to bring the data into your new file.
