Dimension text reposition

danielZDNMY

Hello Community,

I am having an issue when trying to reposition text with leader by hovering over the grip of the dimension text.  When I do this the selection box appears but when I move away from the dimension text grip it disappears before I can make a selection.  I am using AutoCAD LT 2017.  Is there a setting I need to change or is it a software malfunction.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Dan

Is the grip changing color? If it turns green you should be able to slide over the pop-up and click on an item in the pop-up; it if turns red then you picked it and the pop-up goes away; if it stays blue your mouse action did not register.

Hello and thanks for getting back to me Dean.  It turns red when I hover directly over the text grip and then a pop up menu appears.  When I move to make a selection the pop up menu quickly goes away however which doesn't allow me to select anything.

When the popup appears wait until your cursor turns into a mouse pointer

Hi Dean,

Unfortunately I do wait and the pop up selection window still dissappears.  Do you think it is a software glitch?

Is the problem one file? Just dimtext? not with any other objects?
Or does this happen in all files? other dimtext in other files? all grips on all object types?

What else is new: new mouse? new mouse driver?

For me, the grip has to turn red first and an arrow appear before you can slide over to the menu. And you have to slide in the direction of the pop-up.

It's not a glitch in the software if the rest of us cannot replicate it. Can you share a video? Is your LT fully patched and updated?

Hello There,

This used to work just fine for me then all of a sudden just a week or so
ago this started to occur. No new hardware whatsoever. My software may not
be up to date or fully patched. I haven't check this yet. How would I do
this?

Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

It would help if you answer the other questions I posted too, like if this happens with all files and all dimension text items in all those files?
and you have this problem with all object types?

LT2017 updates and patches are here https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad-lt/downloads

Sorry about that. Yes it happens with all dimension text items no matter
what file I am working in. I am going to try the update and patch to see if
this fixes the problem and I will let you know what happens soon.

Thanks for your help with this.

Hello There,

For some reason the links were bouncing back on my text reposition issue so I am starting a new post in order to show you a video regarding how when I hover over the dimension text grip pop up box disappears when trying to select 'move with leader'.

To review, I installed the update/service pack for AutoCAD LT 2017, and still no update.  I am tyring to post a video here which shows you what happens but I can't here.  Can you email me again and I can then send it to you?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks!

Hi Dean,

Here is a video of the problem in action.  Can I post a video to you as requested.  I guess I would have to send this to you via email as I can't post it here.

Thanks again!

Post it to your dropbox or box.net or google-drive account and post a link here for everyone to have access to it.

Here is the link for you to see. Hope this works for you. As you can see,
I am not able to select anything when moving to the pop up box. It just
disappears on me everytime. Not sure what is up. I have updated and done
any hotfix I'm aware of. Are their settings that need to be changed?

The blue node has to turn green for you to select the menu items: if it turns read that means your mouse registered a click (selection) over it.

Unless you changed those color options

Thanks. That is funny because all I do is hover over the grip and don't
click at all. I wonder what is causing this? Do you have an idea?

I see a lot of posts about "auto-click" in Google Search, it is a "thing", explore and see if one of these help solve it https://www.google.com/#q=turn+off+mouse+auto-click+feature

It's not happening in our office of 20+ users. Good luck.

Hello There,

Thanks for offering this advice. However after disabling auto hover for
both my computer mouse pad and actual mouse(which I use almost always) this
still does not fix the problem. Is their settings within autocad that I
could change? One thing to note here is that I had no problem until a week
or two ago when all of a sudden it started to do this.

I would really appreciate your help!

I am not aware of any setting in AutoCAD that controls it: dumb question though, but if you restart your PC, do those settings stay off in the drivers you edited? Does AutoCAD behave any differently after a PC restart?

what changed on your PC in the last week or two? Windows Update or Restore should be able to tell you.
