converting pdf to dwg and exploding the DWG.

When I convert a PDF to a DWG file, the drawing is exploded (not keeping line types and layers) which makes it difficult when i need to delete a line, say for instance a dashed (Hidden Line) or a phantom line, and I have to delete each segment of that line creating more work.

Am I missing a step somewhere?

It's not a perfect converter: that's a limitation I've seen/experienced too.

Dang, that is not what I wanted to hear. any way to fix that issue without
requesting the native file from the Architect?

A purchased 3rd party converter from a firm that's been doing it much longer than Autodesk might be the solution: many of them out there, try before you buy. I have no recommendation as we do not have this business need often enough.

There are a few threads in the forums with users offering third party recommendations. (ADSK forum: Best PDF to DWG converter )

As Dean mentioned I would also strongly suggest asking for a trial period if you are unable to get the original drawing file.
