Convert multile poly lines for one shape into solid lines

I have a drawing created in adobe illustrator. The file has been exported as a DXF and opened in AutoCAD LT 2016. The drawing displays correctly and to the correct scale. For the purpose of RF welding I need to convert the lines from Splines to Polylines. Once converted to polylines the line shows as a large number of small lines making up the lines for my shape. I noticed that as a spline line the line was more solid. Also I’m fairly new to AutoCAD LT so I may not be using the correct terms. Is there a method for converting polylines into more solid lines? I added an attachment to show what I’m experiencing. KG

Can you show us with screenshots or a DWG file to confirm what you are asking for?

Background: With the conversion from smooth curvy splines to plines, all those curves got translated into lines to mimic the curves. The tighter the curve, the shorter and more frequent the lines are. I'm assuming to want to reduce the number of these short lines, but with that you get longer lines and a loss of these curves: is that want to want to really do?

Hi @Anonymous,

I think you may have forgotten to add the attachment to you post.

If your drawing file and maybe a screencast of what you are trying to accomplish that could be helpful.

I forgot to add the Screencast download link: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/community/screencast

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I have worked with a similar problem this week.  I replaced all of the splines with an equivalent radius.  If you don't do that the drawing file will be huge.  What appeared to be a simple radius would be 332 short lines.  This obviously requires a great deal of trial and error unless you know the radius.  The arc command is helpful as well as the 3 point circle command.  The other problem I found was that the lines did not connect at their end points.  I set units to 0.00000000 precision and measured the distance from the endpoint of one line to the endpoint of a spline and typically got distances like 0.00000345 which means that there was a gap between objects.  I used the stretch command to stretch, for example, the end of a line to the end of a radius in order to close the gap.

I don't know if this is applicable to what you are working on but it sounds familiar.  I could not make a polyline and join the other elements of the shape until I replaced all of the splines and connected all of the line segments.
