Block dissappearing

Greetings,

I am working some revisions on a drawing and a set of blocks I have been using are all gone. If I try and drop the blocks into the drawing, they don't appear. The Layer that the blocks are on, is turned on, the layer is thawed. I can draw on that layer. I'm thinking it has something to do with the block definition in the drawing. But Im not sure.

Please help, Thanks

Pierre

Open a new blank drawing: do your blocks work there?
Is yes... drag and drop that problem file into this one, explode that inserted file, then see where all of these block show up for you.

if no blocks show up there, you might have a bigger issue.

Are the blocks annotative?

Make sure that the icon in the image below is blue

The box you show is highlighted to show annotative objects. Im not sure if the block is annotative.

@pgraas That's unfortunate: can you share both your 'new drawing' with blocks in it and the separate problem DWG file here for us to examine? thanks.

Possible that block name is already being used? Try the command 'rename' and see if that block name is available or not.

The drawing file is very large or I would post it. Me and my boss were able to rename the block and then the block will import into the drawing. BEDIT is another command that has been helpful. But something about the block definition is going wrong. The block definition on my reworked file "corrupted" again today. I was going to blame it on my boss, but I don't think she was in my new file. I don't understand.

Hi,

Bigger than 71MB ? Then use use free fileservers like swisstransfer.com and share your Link, otherwise attach the file here.

>>"Me and my boss were able to rename the block and then the block will import into the drawing. "

In this case, please doublecheck your Layers.

follow the steps:

Command: -LAYER<enter>

_th<enter>*<enter>

_on<enter>*<enter>

<enter>

Can you see the block now?

Share your file to get perfect help.

EDIT: We can not check properties in a picture, but it looks like a freezed or off-layer.

Blocks (Block content) is damaged, but I can't say why.

If you copy blockreferences from one to another file and there already is a blockdefinition with the same name,

you just copying the blockreference and it will show the blockdefinition what was and it already there.

In your case I can see corrupted regions.

There are more errors in your files!

Create a copy as backup and open your file by command RECOVER!

Use AUDIT yes

<press [F2] and check out the log>

start -PURGE

REGAPP

*

no

-PURGE

ALL

*

no

save your file

(use BEDIT, open the block, ZOOM extents, select all by CTRL+A, check the properties [CTRL]+[1])

Attached is a version where I redefined all blocks which are also in the other file,

hoping you dont' use same blockname for differently content.

Note: Also my fie is not recovered, audited oo purged, it is just a sample how your file would looks if you redefine all of the blocks.

EDIT: I updated this file (I re-inserted 554041 for your "554041 OLD" block.

The way for "Users" without 3rd party tools is:

Copy your working file, delete all (do not purge) and copy all from the other file into:

Layers ON THAW UNLOCKED

command COPYCLIP<enter>ALL<enter><enter>

Back in your new "empfty file: PASTEORIG
