Block Disappears In Viewport When I Select Scale

Hi,

I'm using a block as a section view symbol which was created by a company I'm doing a drawing for. They have asked me to do all my annotations apart from drawing titles in the model space which isn't what I normally do. When I create a viewport I can see the symbol but as soon as I select a scale it disappears, when I explode the thing or change annotative to 'no' I lose the font. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong, please? How do I get the symbol to remain visible when I select a scale? I copy the symbol & edit the text as prompted when I double click on the text but that's the only editing I'm doing.

@jonathan_butterworth

First change the scale of the block (ringed in the first image) to 1

Second follow the numbers in the second image to add the scale 1:10 to the block

As an explanation. The block is annotative, which means it will automatically change scale (if it is in the object scale list) to whatever scale the viewport is. If however it does not have a scale in it, which is the same as the viewport scale it will "disappear".
