Basics - Drawing Lines

I am novice.  Was trained on autocad yeats ago.  Watched videos on basics.  Have setup units, polar tracking, object snap, and layers.  Trying to draw lines now.  Want to create a section of house.  Trying to draw lines at a specific length.  Click line, then it tells me specify first point, which I do, then I type the dimension in dialogue box and hold to degree, click enter, but line doesn't stick.  Please help!

A screencast of what you doing would help, or even a screenshot or two so we can see what you see, something showing 'dialogue boxes' and the results of what happens (Autocad doesn't use dialogue boxes for drawing lines?)

Totally opened to screencast.  Please email me the link as soon as possible.  Available now to start.  Sooner the better.  Thank you so much.

I think you misunderstood the last post, you need to show us what you are doing and the link for making a screencast was there in the last post.

Does your drawing have to stay to the right of the x/y axis at bottom of screen?

Also, I have a large monitor.  When I move my screen from laptop to large monitor, the grid only covers a portion of screen.  Looks like grey space below with no grid.  How can I increase my expanse space.  O,0 origin and extent 200', 200'?

No, it can be placed anywhere but generally, it is better to place your drawing close to the 0,0 origin

Again, show us a screenshot we can't see what you are trying to describe. The drawing extents should change as you start adding elements. Though you can limit a drawing to not go beyond the extents, but that is a more advanced topic and something you need to manually set anyway, it isn't set in a standard blank drawing.

Thank you Steve....I am assuming 0,0 is the x/y that shows at bottom left?

That would depend on your settings, but in a default setup no. The UCS icon x/y is always shown at the bottom left of your screen to show you which direction x and y are, but that icon isn't always placed at 0,0 it depends on your settings in the 'ucsicon' command.
