AutoCAD LT - Objects with Lineweights are not displaying properly

If I turn off LWDISPLAY, then things look Ok:

LWDISPLAY off.pngLWDISPLAY off.png

But when I turn LWDISPLAY on, then the straight lines disappear:

LWDISPLAY on.pngLWDISPLAY on.png

Unfortunately when I open most of my drawings, LWDISPLAY is ON by default, so its just one more thing I need to adjust to be able to work.

I'd also just prefer to be able to see the lineweights properly instead of being forced to turn them off.

This issue issue is in Modelspace & in Paperspace.

Currently using AutoCAD LT 2023.1.2 as far as I can tell.

Hi, share your DWG, we can not check any properties by your image.

LWDisplay:

..when I open most of my drawings.

Sorry, this setting is saved in the files. If you open a file and LWDisplay is on,

the last user saved this file with lwdisplay on. That's it.

>>"I'd also just prefer to be able to see the lineweights properly instead of being forced to turn them off. "

On? Off? Can't follow you.

Displaying the lineweight in AutoCAD is just a helper function for Users,

they are displaying not in a real size. You can scale them, but not more.

I attached a .dwg file.

I want to see my blocks properly whether LWDISPLAY is ON or OFF.

Right now, I can see the block properly if LWDISPLAY is OFF.

But when LWDISPLAY is ON, then the straight lines disappear.

You can see the difference in my original post.

I used to see the entire block no matter what the status of LWDISPLAY was.

Hi,

>>"Right now, I can see the block properly if LWDISPLAY is OFF."

>>"But when LWDISPLAY is ON, then the straight lines disappear."

Tuern off your hardware acceleration(or if off, turn it ON)

Command: Graphicsconfig

Try both settings. ON and also OFF

Another test, set GFXDX12 to zero, is it working now?

You using a very strange color in your sample and I like to know: Is it the same problem by using the color7 ?

Nothing changed?

I don't know what you could test now.

@CharlesF5B37 Thank you for the DWG file, but it does not contain any blocks in it to demonstrate your issue. It only contains a shape with an object-specific LWEIGHT setting (it's layer has no LWEIGHT setting).

When I INSERT this file into a blank file (AutoCAD 2023.1.2) , this block's LWEIGHT settings come along with it just fine. In that blank file I have LWDISPLAY variable set to ON. Do you have this latter set that way too?

Thank you.

Turning hardware acceleration off fixed the issue.

Are there any downsides to leaving that off?

Hi,

>>"Turning hardware acceleration off fixed the issue"

No, it just explain where the problem is! Graphic settings, graphic card / driver

>>"Are there any downsides to leaving that off?"

Yes, a lot. Depend on your file content, settings and view&viewport settings.

a) performance and b) some features are disabled

for example:

Yeah, I've noticed some of the downsides already.

Is there anything else I can diagnose to properly resolve this issue?

Thanks for your help on this

Just to update:

I had tried this before, but I don't think I noticed the pop up saying that it would take effect next time AutoCAD started before resetting GFXDX12 back to "1".

So I set it to "0" again, restarted AutoCAD and now its working. I can see the lineweights while keeping hardware acceleration ON.

So next question, are there any downsides to keeping GFXDX12 at "0"?

Thank you!

No, it just means your video card is not ready for DirectX12, it needs the older DirectX11 to work best in AutoCAD/LT for your on your system.
