AutoCAD LT - doesn't save dwg in icloud

I got an error when saving my drawing to icloud. Its saves to save*.tmp file instead of overwriting the current file.

I have to give my file a new name over and over again when saving.

How can I solve this problem please?

Are you an AutoCAD/LT for MAC user by chance? You are in the wrong forum then. Let us know ASAP.

If not, you're fine here in this forum.

Note: TMP files are created when the DWG file is locked by iCloud or your PC.
Why is your file locked? That's what you need to find out, AutoCAD/LT have no ability to go around file lock settings on drives. Sorry.

Thanks a lot for posting your question to the forums!   As @pendean has asked, it would be great if you confirm if you are using AutoCAD for Mac. If we have this information, the community can help provide you with some better advise.

Thank you @annelies.bleyaert

Could you try adjusting the below?

Turn off the backup file option

  1. On the command line in AutoCAD, type ISAVEBAK.
  2. Set the value to 0 (zero).
Note: Changing ISAVEBAK affects all files. It is not a drawing-specific variable.

Turning isavebak to zero helps solving the problem, thanx.

Only, does that mean there are no back up files created any more?

Correct.

Rethink your iCLOUD commitment if you find that too scary to bear (I sure do): explore this similar topic from MAC users and scroll down that post to see if other ideas are offered

Are you saying that the above solution doesn't work for you? Did you try it?

Rob

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

I turned the isavebak again to 1.
Too risky to have no backup file… so indeed, the problem isn’t solved. I also have to rename the file with every save. Very annoying…

If you don't think it is solved, you should remove the green checkmark from @handjonathan's post.

@annelies.bleyaert So here is how a 'save" works in AutoCAD/LT for Windows:
- a TMP file is created
- the BAK file, if present, is deleted.
- DWG file is renamed BAK
- TMP is renamed DWG

iCLOUD appears to break the cycle somewhere in the middle for you: what did Apple support suggest for a fix if any?
Autodesk's suggestions that I can find so far are... Either stop using iCLOUD (has lots of known issues with AutoCAD mac and windows from what I can tell), or go with the tip offered above.

This unrelated tip may or may not help, not sure https://www.landfx.com/kb/autocad-fxcad/files/item/5486-save-mac-duplicates.html

Also reach out to Apple Support: users in other software report the need to "...Apple Support walked me through resetting the permission on my home folder...".

That's all you get today as far as I can tell too. Sorry.
