Autocad LT and Microsoft Windows Server 2016

Hi, there -

We recently set up a new server in our small office that runs on Microsoft Windows Server 2016 Essentials.  Ever since the switch, Autocad LT (a mix of years , 2013 to 2019) slows / hangs for about 10 -15 seconds every time that it needs to access the server files (ie open, save, pulling new blocks...).

There is no speed issue when accessing the files via windows explorer or other autodesk products like revit, and the LAN is gig-e so should be now problem with the actual access speed.

Any ideas what could be causing the issue?

Hi @Anonymous,

Please give me some more information regarding this behavior.  Does it involve all versions of AutoCAD 2013-2019? What kind of firewall and security software are you using on your workstations and network?

Other than project drawing files, what other AutoCAD related content do you place on your network  as opposed to installing on the local workstation?

Do you find all files have the lag or just specific ones (maybe specific AutoCAD version format)?

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.

Hi, John -
Thank you for the reply; we figured it out. There were links that referenced the old server location in our "Places" sidebars; it looks like Autocad was looking fruitlessly for the old server which was causing the issue.

We cleaned those links up and it all works great again. So not an issue with the server software, more just our migration.

Thanks!
