AutoCAD LT and Add-Ins

AutoCAD 2020 LT

On the menu bar is a tab titled "Add-ins".  I am unable to find a way to browse add-ins from LT.  Can add-ins be used with LT?  My company recently migrated from AutoCAD to AutoCAD LT and I had purchased several add-ins while we were using AutoCAD.

Thank you in advance for your help.

LT does not support any add-ons.

if those add ins are required you will need to stay on full Autocad

You can have custom tabs in the menubar, the one titled addins may even have been an automatic transfer of settings if you moved from full to LT, but LT does not support addins, either stay with full Autocad or find new ways of working.

Not a matter of finding new ways to do things, but a matter of going back to old ways of doing them. 😉

I started doing this when everything was hand drawn and migrated to AutoCAD somewhere around R6.

I too started on a drawing board with pencil and ink. Though LT doesn't have addins you can create macro's and automate a lot of mundane tasks.

Hi all,

so we are now in AUTOCAD LT 2022, well away from AutoCAD V1 in c1982, is there any updated information on Plugins for this latest version does anyone know please?  I'm interested in plug ins which can make drawing a lot quicker such as auto aligning or distritbuting equaly multiple objects to a common axis  or a specified distance.

For this autodesk offer a program named "AutoCAD",

AutoCAD LT is for users who do not need the possibility of program expansion and therefore want to pay less.

Maybe I need to pay less and find a better programme, but thank you

That is the beauty of it. You are free to do that!

Report back with your findings if possible.

  1. Hi,

i see you are a mentor, maybe you can advise me please if AUTOCAD, which I don’t use can do the following,

can it resize an object by simply entering new sizes, not scale or stretch ?

can it align multiple objects to a defined base line or axis point.

can it distribute objects equally between two defined points without using array

can I select a layer and then select all objects by the chosen layer

can I select a layer then select all objects by the chosen layer and then move them to a different layer by simply clicking on the desired layer

can I create a viewport and insert the specified drawing area from world into the viewport and then set the required scale without having to move annotative text around because of the different scale I choose in each different viewport

Can I do multiple trims without having to constantly set trim to Multiple

Can I select a Construction line which will automatically and always be placed on a construction layer which is non printable without me having to assign it to a construction layer every time I select Construction line.

i know these things sound minor but they intensely magnify my productivity,

and help you can give me will be indeed greatly appreciated

thank you in advance . 😊😊😊😊

You can have blocks set up to align when they are inserted.

or distritbuting equaly multiple objects to a common axis  or a specified distance.

The 'distance' or 'measure' commands will place blocks along the path of a line, polyline, spline etc. at set distances

And when Autodesk finds out you're using that, don't be surprised if your license "stops working" soon after    😉

@rkmcswain Those pesky license agreements' fine print, huh!

I found a great programme, but I won't post its name on here. Thank you for your help and support!

Why not? The programs are public, or

are you ashamed (laughs, I don't mean that seriously, but I can't understand why not either)

FYI: "so we are now in AUTOCAD LT 2022, well away from AutoCAD V1 in c1982, is there any updated information on Plugins for this latest version does anyone know please?"

YES, now since AutoCAD LT 2024 incl. the Lisp API,

the mostly used for Autodesk.

Limitations are just few (the AutoCAD only 3D stuff and in Lisp: Xrecord creation and also vlax-create.. function doesn' t work)
