AutoCAD LT 2019 - tables from Excel are not displaying correctly

Excel tables just started displaying strangely. New tables are coming in with out of scale text. I am placing tables in paper space - which I have done for years. Suddenly new tables are coming in with font sizes several feet high. The original Excel sheets are normal. Even tables previously placed in the file that behaved properly are doing this. The table thinks it is in a smaller font, most of the cells are a normal size. And it is only some cells that come in weird, distorting the entire table. I've done the usual restart, tried it on other files, tried it on a new document, same thing.I guess I'm back to placing pdfs, and looking at other options for production.

I gotta say, 20+ years of placing Excel files into AutoCAD and it has always been a crap shoot. What gives? Get it together, already.

Start a new Excel document as a test and fill in content.
Start a new blank AutoCAD file (ideally one of your template files), click on a layout tab, bring in your Excel document: still the same problem?

Yep, tried that already and I had the same problem. I did discover that the bizarre font behavior (coming in a foot high) was probably linked to the use of different font sizes in the original Excel file. I made everything the same font size and it came in okay. This is a new behavior - prior tables had different font sizes with no problems.

However, selecting the table in AutoCAD still results in the entire table being bizarrely blanked out (as in the screen shot in the original post), making it really hard to work with. This is also new behavior, and this doesn't change whether in a completely new document or one of the existing documents.

I'll probably end up printing to pdf and inserting the pdf as an xref (inserted pdfs have their own weirdnesses when printing, but at least there aren't the formatting problems).

Thank you.
